How to fix it

  1. Unplug the dryer.
  2. Access the heater box (usually rear panel).
  3. Test the inlet thermistor for ~10kΩ at room temperature; replace if out of spec.
  4. Inspect the heating element and high-limit thermostats while you're in there.
  5. Reassemble and restore power.
