KitchenAid Dryer L2 — Low or No Line Voltage (Electric Dryers)

KitchenAid Dryer · Error code L2

What L2 Means

The electric dryer is sensing one leg of the 240V supply missing or weak. The heater will not energize without both legs.

Symptoms

  • L2 on display
  • Dryer runs but no heat
  • Long drying times

Common Causes

1
Tripped half of the double-pole breaker

One side tripped while the other holds

2
Loose terminal block connection

Power cord screws backed off at the dryer terminal block

3
Damaged power cord

Burnt or broken conductor in the cord

4
Faulty outlet

Burnt receptacle or loose pigtail

How to Fix It

  1. Reset the breaker fully OFF then ON (both poles).
  2. Unplug the dryer and inspect the terminal block — tighten the cord connections.
  3. Check the power cord for damage or scorching.
  4. Have an electrician verify 240V at the outlet (120V leg-to-neutral, 240V leg-to-leg).
  5. Replace the cord or outlet as needed.
