dHE — Dry function temporary error

dHE is a transient dry-function error — typically airflow, temperature, or sensor data was inconsistent enough for the control to abort the cycle, but not severe enough to flag a specific component code.

How to fix it

  1. Clean the lint filter and check the exhaust duct end-to-end.
  2. Reduce load size to no more than three-quarters drum capacity and retry.
  3. Unplug for 60 seconds to reset the control.
  4. If in an unheated garage, warm the area above 50°F and retry.
  5. If dHE returns repeatedly, inspect thermistor wiring and have a tech read live sensor data.

Why it happens

Typical signs: dHE on display · Cycle ends earlier than expected · Clothes partially dry · Code does not always return on next cycle

  • Partial airflow restriction Lint filter or duct partially clogged but not enough to trigger d80/d90/d95.
  • Overloaded drum Heavy/oversized load skews sensor data.
  • Intermittent thermistor reading Loose connector or borderline sensor.
  • Inadequate ambient temperature Dryer in a cold space, especially heat-pump models.
