LG Dryer gAS — No gas supply detected (gas models)
LG Dryer · Error code gAS
What gAS Means
On gas dryers, gAS indicates the burner failed to ignite or stay lit. The igniter glows but the flame sensor never detects flame, so the main board cuts gas after the safety retry limit.
Symptoms
- gAS on display
- Drum tumbles but stays cold
- Clicking igniter with no flame
- Other gas appliances also recently restored after service
Common Causes
Manual shutoff behind the dryer or at the meter is closed.
Common after gas service or LP tank refill — bleed by running another gas appliance first.
Flex connector pinched behind the dryer.
Open or shorted booster/secondary coils prevent the valve from opening.
Igniter glows dimly and does not heat the valve enough to open.
Sensor does not confirm flame and aborts the cycle.
How to Fix It
- Confirm the gas valve behind the dryer is fully open and other gas appliances work.
- Bleed the line by running a gas range burner for 30 seconds.
- Unplug the dryer for 60 seconds and try a Timed Dry; listen and watch for the igniter to glow bright orange and the burner to light.
- If igniter glows but no flame, replace the gas valve coil kit.
- If igniter is dim or never glows, replace the igniter.
- If burner lights briefly then drops out repeatedly, replace the flame sensor (radiant sensor).
