LG Dryer LE2 — Compressor fault (heat-pump models)
LG Dryer · Error code LE2
What LE2 Means
LE2 on heat-pump and hybrid LG dryers indicates a fault in the compressor circuit. The compressor generates the drying heat on these models, so a failure means no heat regardless of element status.
Symptoms
- LE2 on display
- Cycle finishes with damp clothes
- No warmth from drum at all
- Loud hum or click from base of dryer
- Recently moved without 24-hour settle time
Common Causes
Refrigerant migrated into the compressor and it cannot start until oil/refrigerant separate.
Compressor cannot start without the boost device.
Thermal overload opened due to high amp draw.
Leak in sealed system.
Inverter board not driving the compressor.
How to Fix It
- Unplug the dryer and let it sit upright for at least 4 hours (24 hours if it was recently laid on its side).
- Plug back in and run a Timed Dry; listen for compressor start.
- If LE2 returns, unplug, access the compressor compartment, and test the start device / capacitor per service manual.
- Verify the inverter board has voltage in/out per spec.
- A sealed-system leak or compressor replacement requires a certified sealed-system technician — do not attempt DIY.
- Document model and serial number and contact LG service or an EPA 608-certified appliance tech.
