LG Dryer nE — Wi-Fi / ThinQ connection error

LG Dryer · Error code nE

What nE Means

nE (also nF/nC on some models) indicates the Wi-Fi/ThinQ communication module cannot connect to the network or to the LG cloud. The dryer functions normally for laundry — only smart features are affected.

Symptoms

  • nE on display
  • ThinQ app cannot find or control the dryer
  • Wi-Fi LED blinks or off
  • Recently changed router/SSID/password

Common Causes

1
Router or SSID changed

Dryer still has old network credentials saved.

2
Weak Wi-Fi signal at dryer location

Laundry room out of reliable router range.

3
Router on 5GHz only

Older LG dryers only join 2.4GHz networks.

4
ThinQ server outage

Temporary cloud connectivity issue.

5
Failed Wi-Fi module

Hardware fault in the comms module.

How to Fix It

  1. Unplug the dryer for 60 seconds and plug back in.
  2. Open the ThinQ app, remove the dryer, then re-add following the setup wizard.
  3. Confirm the router is broadcasting a 2.4GHz SSID (not 5GHz-only).
  4. Temporarily move the router closer or use a mesh extender to verify signal is the issue.
  5. If a re-pair fails repeatedly with strong signal on a 2.4GHz SSID, the Wi-Fi/comms module may need service.
