F7E5 — Shifter (splutch) fault

On top-load VMW/Bravos washers the shifter assembly (splutch) moves between wash and spin modes. The control detects the shifter did not change position correctly.

How to fix it

  1. Unplug the washer and tip it back to access the underside.
  2. Locate the shifter actuator (small motor mounted on the gearcase).
  3. Disconnect harness, inspect for corrosion, reseat.
  4. Try the cycle again; if F7E5 returns, replace the shifter actuator.
  5. If shifter is new and still failing, inspect the splutch for cracks.
