LF — Long fill (water supply restriction)

The washer has not reached the required water level within the allotted fill time. Equivalent to F8E1 on newer displays; older Maytags show 'LF'.

How to fix it

  1. Open both hot and cold supply valves fully.
  2. Shut off water, disconnect fill hoses, and clean the inlet screens.
  3. Check fill hoses for kinks; straighten or replace.
  4. Test water pressure at the faucet (should be 20–120 psi).
  5. If still failing, replace the water inlet valve.

Why it happens

Typical signs: LF on display · Cycle pauses or cancels during fill · Weak water flow into tub

  • Supply valves not fully open Hot/cold faucets at wall partially closed.
  • Clogged inlet screens Sediment in the mesh at hose connections.
  • Kinked fill hose Hose pinched against wall.
  • Failed inlet valve Solenoid stuck or coil failed.
  • Low water pressure Household pressure under ~20 psi.
