Roborock Robot Vacuum Error 1 — LDS laser distance sensor blocked or stuck

Roborock Robot Vacuum · Error code Error 1

What Error 1 Means

The LiDAR (laser distance sensor) on top of the robot is jammed, blocked, or cannot spin freely. Without it the robot cannot map or navigate.

Symptoms

  • Robot stops shortly after starting
  • Voice prompt says 'LDS is blocked, please tap to release'
  • App shows Error 1
  • LiDAR turret does not spin
  • No map being drawn

Common Causes

1
Hair or string wrapped around LiDAR base

Long hair winds around the rotating turret and seizes it.

2
Dust or debris in LiDAR bearing

Buildup under the turret prevents free rotation.

3
Robot stuck under low furniture

Turret physically pinned by furniture edge.

4
Bumper stuck/depressed

A pressed bumper can also trigger LDS-related errors on some firmware.

5
LDS motor failure

Internal motor or PCB on the LiDAR module has failed.

How to Fix It

  1. Power off the robot using the switch under the lid.
  2. Manually spin the LiDAR turret with your finger — it should rotate freely with light resistance.
  3. Use tweezers to remove any hair, string, or fibers wound around the base of the turret.
  4. Blow out dust from the LDS base with compressed air; do not use liquids.
  5. Press the bumper several times to confirm it springs back fully.
  6. Move the robot to an open area (not under a couch) and restart.
  7. If the turret still won't spin, the LDS module needs replacement — contact Roborock support.
