What Error 16 Means

The internal gyro or accelerometer reports that the robot is on an uneven surface or tipped.

Symptoms

  • Voice prompt 'Please place robot on a level surface'
  • App shows Error 16
  • Robot stops on rugs or thresholds

Common Causes

Started on thick rug or uneven floor

Robot must start on a level surface to calibrate.

Wheel partly on rug, partly on floor

Persistent tilt during navigation.

Gyro calibration drift

Internal IMU needs re-calibration via a power cycle.

How to Fix It

  1. Move the robot to a flat, hard surface.
  2. Power it off, wait 10 seconds, and power it back on to re-calibrate the gyro.
  3. Restart cleaning from the dock if possible.
  4. Mark known-uneven areas as no-go zones in the app.
