How to fix it

  1. Stop using the dryer until resolved — overheating is a fire risk.
  2. Clean the lint screen and the entire exhaust vent.
  3. If HE returns with a clear vent, test the thermistor and heating element and replace the faulty part.

Why it happens

Typical signs: Dryer shuts off mid-cycle · Very hot exterior · HE/HC on the display

  • Clogged lint screen or vent Restricted airflow traps heat — clean the screen and the full vent first.
  • Faulty heating element or thermistor A shorted element or failed temperature sensor causes true overheating.
