Whirlpool Refrigerator F3 EC — Pantry Drawer Sensor Fault
Whirlpool Refrigerator · Error code F3 EC
What F3 EC Means
The deli/pantry drawer temperature sensor (often called the 'PC' sensor) is open or shorted. The drawer's heater/damper logic relies on this, so the drawer can drift warm or cold.
Symptoms
- Flashing 'F' on display
- Pantry/deli drawer too warm or freezing food
- Drawer temperature setting not responding
- Sweat or frost on drawer interior
Common Causes
The sensor probe in the deli drawer has opened up.
Wire pinched between the drawer slide and the cabinet.
Harness connector behind the unit has worked loose.
How to Fix It
- Pull the pantry drawer out and inspect the wire routing for pinches.
- Unplug the fridge for 5 minutes to see if the code clears.
- Test the pantry sensor with a multimeter — about 10kΩ at room temperature.
- Replace the sensor if open or out of spec.
- Reseat the harness connector at the back of the cabinet to the main control board.
- Replace the main control board if the sensor and wiring both test good.
