Whirlpool Refrigerator F8 E1 — Water Tank Low / Fill Fault
Whirlpool Refrigerator · Error code F8 E1
What F8 E1 Means
The control board did not see enough water flow to fill the dispenser's measured fill reservoir. Usually points to a closed/missing water supply, a clogged filter, or low household pressure.
Symptoms
- Flashing 'F' on display
- Water dispenser slow or stops
- Ice maker not producing
- Measured Fill aborts before completing
Common Causes
Saddle valve or shutoff was closed during service.
Old filter or aftermarket filter with restrictive flow.
Less than 30 psi will not push enough water through.
Plastic or copper line kinked behind the fridge.
Solenoid stuck closed or low coil current.
How to Fix It
- Confirm the household water supply to the fridge is open.
- Replace the water filter with a genuine OEM filter (W10295370A / EDR1RXD1 or equivalent for your model).
- Bypass test — pull the filter and install the bypass plug; if water flows, the filter was the problem.
- Check the supply line behind the fridge for kinks; straighten or replace as needed.
- If still failing, test water inlet valve solenoid for ~200Ω; replace if open or shorted.
