Whirlpool Washer F1E2 — Motor Control Over-Voltage
Whirlpool Washer · Error code F1E2
What F1E2 Means
The motor control unit detected line voltage above its safe operating range, or a fault on the DC bus inside the MCU.
Symptoms
- F1 E2 right at Start or partway through wash
- Recent voltage spike, generator use, or brownout in the house
- Washer dead until power-cycled
- Sometimes paired with F0E7
Common Causes
Above ~132V on a nominal 120V circuit will trip the MCU.
DC bus capacitor or voltage-sense circuit on the MCU has failed.
Voltage sags / surges when something else cycles on the same breaker.
How to Fix It
- Unplug for 10 minutes.
- Test the outlet with a multimeter — should read 114-126V steady; anything above 130V is a problem and you need an electrician.
- Plug the washer into a different known-good circuit and try the cycle.
- If the code returns on good power, replace the MCU.
