Whirlpool Washer F8E3 — Overflow / Water Level Too High
Whirlpool Washer · Error code F8E3
What F8E3 Means
The pressure sensor sees water in the tub above the maximum safe level. Either the inlet valve is leaking water in when it shouldn't, the drain isn't keeping up, or the pressure sensor/hose is misreading.
Symptoms
- Suds or water visible at the top of the drum
- Water keeps filling even when the cycle is paused or off
- F8 E3 with full drum
- Wet floor under or behind the washer
Common Causes
If the washer fills with the power off, this is the cause — replace the valve and shut the supply faucets immediately.
Hose pushed too deep into the standpipe or laid below the drum height causes false high level.
Detergent in the small clear hose between tub and pressure switch.
Sensor on the control board reporting high level falsely.
How to Fix It
- Immediately shut off both supply faucets if water keeps entering with power off.
- Unplug the washer for 5 minutes.
- Verify drain hose: the highest point must be 24-96 inches off the floor, and inserted no more than 4.5 inches into the standpipe.
- Disconnect the small pressure (air) hose at the tub and at the sensor; blow it clear of water/soap and reconnect.
- If the inlet valve allowed water in while unplugged, replace the water inlet valve.
- If all of the above is good and the code returns at the start of every cycle, replace the pressure sensor / main control.
