PF Minor Easy DIY
Whirlpool Washer PF — Power Failure During Cycle
Whirlpool Washer · Error code PF
What PF Means
The washer lost power during the previous cycle and is letting you know on power restore. Not a fault unless it keeps recurring.
Symptoms
- PF flashes after power comes back on
- Cycle didn't finish
- Wet clothes in the drum
- Display blank briefly during the outage
Common Causes
1
Power outage / brownout
Normal grid event or breaker trip.
2
Loose power cord or outlet
Connector slipping in the wall outlet.
3
Tripping GFCI / circuit breaker
Shared circuit overloading.
How to Fix It
- Press Pause/Cancel to clear PF, then restart the cycle.
- If PF appears with no obvious outage, test the outlet voltage with a meter (114-126V).
- Plug the washer directly into a known-good dedicated outlet — never a power strip or extension cord.
- If a breaker keeps tripping, have an electrician inspect the circuit.
