EE Serious Hard — consider a tech

Bosch Refrigerator EE — Demo / Showroom Mode Active or EEPROM Fault

Bosch Refrigerator · Error code EE

What EE Means

EE indicates the unit is in demo (showroom) mode where the compressor is disabled and the display only mimics operation, or it can indicate an EEPROM (memory) fault on the main control board. Either way, the unit will not cool until cleared.

Symptoms

  • EE on display
  • Display works but nothing gets cold
  • Compressor never starts
  • Settings will not save

Common Causes

1
Demo mode enabled at retail

Common on units bought as floor models or after a power glitch.

2
Corrupted EEPROM

Memory IC on main board has bad data.

3
Failed main control board

EEPROM is bad and not recoverable by reset.

How to Fix It

  1. Press and hold the Alarm + Super (or model-specific combo per the owner's manual) for ~10 seconds to exit demo mode.
  2. Listen for the compressor to start within 5-10 minutes of exiting demo mode.
  3. If demo mode cannot be exited, unplug for 10 minutes and retry.
  4. If EE persists after a full reset, the main control board EEPROM is the likely failure — replace the board.
  5. After replacement, verify model/serial programming per the tech sheet.
