E74 — Inlet Control Thermistor Short

E74 indicates the inlet control thermistor (temperature sensor) circuit is shorted — the control reads it out of range (a good thermistor is roughly 47k–66k ohms). Check the thermistor and its wiring. It is a temperature-sensor fault, not a drive-motor-relay fault.

How to fix it

  1. Unplug the dryer.
  2. Check the drive motor windings for shorts and the motor for free rotation.
