GE Oven dF — Door Latch Switch Fault

GE Oven · Error code dF

What dF Means

The control sees a mismatch between commanded door latch state and the latch switch feedback. Self-clean and sometimes bake will be disabled.

Symptoms

  • dF appears when starting self-clean
  • Oven will not lock door
  • Door locked but display says unlocked or vice versa

Common Causes

1
Failed latch switch on door lock assembly

Switch contacts worn or broken.

2
Misaligned latch cam

Switch never gets pressed by the cam at lock position.

3
Failed door lock motor

Motor cannot fully drive the cam to the switch.

How to Fix It

  1. Power down at the breaker.
  2. Remove the top panel of the range or the back of a wall oven to access the door lock assembly.
  3. Inspect the latch cam and microswitches. Manually move the cam to verify both switches click.
  4. Test switches with a multimeter; replace any that don't change state.
  5. If the latch motor binds or doesn't drive the cam fully, replace the whole lock assembly.
