How to fix it

  1. Cut power at the breaker immediately to stop the lock motor.
  2. Allow the latch to cool, then access the lock assembly.
  3. Inspect for melted wiring; repair or replace harness.
  4. If wiring is good, replace the control board (stuck relay).
  5. Replace the lock assembly if the motor itself is seized or shorted.
