LOC Minor Easy DIY

GE Oven LOC — Control Lock Active

GE Oven · Error code LOC

What LOC Means

Not a failure code. The control lockout feature is enabled, preventing accidental operation. Common after a power outage or after children press buttons.

Symptoms

  • LOC or LOCKED on display
  • Buttons do not respond
  • Oven will not turn on

Common Causes

1
Control lock intentionally enabled

User or someone in the household activated lockout.

2
Sabbath mode active

Some models display LOC indicators in Sabbath.

3
Auto-lock engaged after a self-clean

Door remains locked while oven is too hot.

How to Fix It

  1. Press and hold the 9 key (or the dedicated LOCK CONTROLS / Control Lock pad) for 3 seconds to unlock.
  2. On models with touch screens, look for a lock icon and tap it.
  3. If display reads LOCKED with a self-clean cool-down, wait until cavity temp drops below ~500F — door unlocks automatically.
  4. Consult the owner's manual for the model-specific unlock combo if 9 does not work.
