LG Refrigerator Er IS — Ice maker fan motor / sensor fault
LG Refrigerator · Error code Er IS
What Er IS Means
The ice maker compartment fan or ice maker sensor is open, disconnected, or stalled — most often frost on the ice room fan or a failed sensor in the ice room.
Symptoms
- Er IS (or Er 1S) on display
- No ice production
- Frost in the ice compartment
- Ice room warmer than normal
Common Causes
Door seal leak lets humid air freeze the fan.
BLDC fan failed mechanically or electrically.
Connector unseated during service or by vibration.
Open NTC sensor in the ice compartment.
How to Fix It
- Empty the ice bin and leave the freezer/ice door open for 8+ hours to defrost.
- After drying, restore power and watch for Er IS.
- If it returns, remove the ice room cover and check the fan for free rotation.
- Reseat the ice-room sensor and fan harness connectors.
- Replace the ice-room fan motor if stalled or noisy.
- Replace the ice-room sensor if out of resistance spec.
