Maytag Dryer dET — Detergent / Dispenser Not Detected (Steam Models)

Maytag Dryer · Error code dET

What dET Means

On steam-capable Maytag dryers, the control did not detect the dispenser/cartridge or sees the steam water line not primed. Cycle will run but steam features may be disabled.

Symptoms

  • dET on display
  • Steam cycle won't start
  • Refresh/Sanitize cycle ends quickly
  • Water inlet not filling

Common Causes

1
Water supply valve closed

Most common — install supply valve never opened or was turned off.

2
Kinked or clogged inlet hose / screen

Inlet screen plugged with debris.

3
Failed water inlet valve

Solenoid stuck or open winding.

4
Air in steam line on first use

Needs to be primed.

How to Fix It

  1. Confirm the cold water supply valve to the dryer is fully open.
  2. Disconnect the inlet hose and clean the inlet screen at the valve.
  3. Run a steam cycle and listen for the inlet valve clicking.
  4. If no flow, measure the valve solenoid winding; replace the valve if open or stuck.
  5. Run the cycle once or twice to purge air from the steam line.
  6. If still failing, replace the steam control assembly.
